MORE than a thousand people gathered to pay their last respects Nadia Khan yesterday.

The funeral of the 24-year-old mum-of-two was held at the Masjid Bilal Mosque in Manningham yesterday afternoon.

Mrs Khan, who was seven months pregnant, was stabbed to death at her home in Holker Street, Manningham, on Sunday, June 17.

Mourners gathered in a field next to the mosque, behind Manningham Sports Centre, where her coffin was placed.

Shortly after 1pm a crowd of about 500 women surrounded the coffin to pay their respects.

Traffic was so great that stewards were used to directing people travelling by car to neighbouring streets and car parks.

After about half an hour the women, many in tears and some calling the young mother's name, left the field, and a group of about 600 male mourners arrived on the field, where they lined up in front of the coffin for prayers.

Her coffin, with a bouquet of flowers placed on top, was then carried out of the field and placed into a hearse.
