Confusion reigned in some mosques last night over Eid announcements.

It is believed several mosque committees first made the announcement that Eid would take place on Monday before changing their mind later in the evening.

It had been thought that the familiar split between some mosques would again be evident this year. But the majority of Muslims kept 29 fasts this year and celebrated Eid today.

That was not the case for some last night though.

One Bolton mosque was forced to apologise to worshippers who were told Eid would be celebrated on Tuesday instead.

Several videos have already surfaced on social media sites relating to Bolton, Bradford and Nelson.

In Bradford it is believed police were called to quell a disturbance late in the evening.
