A banner calling for people to ban Tesco products has been put up outside the store in Lancashire.

The banner went up on Sunday night on an building near the entrance to the main Hill Street Store, Blackburn. It calls upon all customers not to buy products from Tesco because they were allegedly stocking goods from the occupied lands of Palestine.

It is unsure who put it up but pictures forwarded to Asian Image show the protest banner going up.

A Tesco spokesperson said, "Like all major UK retailers, we sell some products that are sourced from Israel. "We do this in line with Government guidance on trade with Israel, and we mark all products clearly with the country of origin, so customers can make informed choices about what to buy.”

In recent weeks there have been strong condemnation and calls for boycotts of companies who allegedly support Israel.

Other stores being targeted include Asda where one apparent call for a boycott proved to be just rumours.

A post went up stating that Asda was refusing to allow customers to wear Free Gaza T-shirts inside their stores.

One group of campaigners decided to walk into their local Asda with T-shirts on to test the theory.

They had no issues.

In a post they stated, “The store manager and the police had no issue with us and even posed for a picture.

“Think it was publicity stunt by a printing company.”
