Scotland forms the backdrop for this Punjabi drama, seeing a spoilt Bally (Bally Sagoo) living life to the full.
Grandson of multi-millionaire Kartar Singh (Dalip Tahil), Bally's only dream is to become a famous musician and marry his girlfriend, Charlene (Zoe Szypillo).
But his mother (Daljeet Kaur) wishes Bally to take over his father's business and get married to Manpreet (Preeti Jhangiani), a nice down to earth Punjabi girl. Manpreet, an orphan from an earlier age was raised by Fatima Begum in Pakistan. Whilst growing up, she spent her time helping at the local Gurudwara Nankana Sahib (local Sikh Temple).
Due to her devout religious beliefs, Manpreet gets a chance to go to Scotland to help out at the local Sikh Temple. Upon her arrival to a new land she falls in love with Bally, but he sees her as a mere servant.
Despite loving Bally, she helps Charlene to be accepted as part of Bally's family by teaching her about Punjabi culture. But when Kartar Singh gets to know about this, he feels betrayed by Bally. Will Charlene be able to be a proper Punjabi daughter in law? And what will happen to Manpreet? Sajna Ve Sajna, a cross cultural film in Punjabi, has all the answers.
Although this drama was filmed in Pakistan and India, the majority of the shooting took place in Scottish locations including Loch Lomond lake, Strathclyde University and Singh Sabha Gurudwara based in Glasgow.
