Proof, if proof were needed, Shahrukh Khan maybe the King of Bollywood but he hasn't lived up to his early promise as a charismatic and very accomplished actor.
I can't think of a single Shahrukh film in the past few years that has stretched him as an actor. Most of his films are safe 'massala' affairs with all the right Bollywood ingredients but nothing in the way of that 'something special' that lifts an ordinary film above the rest of the herd.
'Chak De India' is the perfect example of the malaise that permeates all recent Shahrukh films.
He plays the coach of the all-woman Indian hockey team who, despite all obstacles, come through to win the day.
Yes, it really is as predictable as that.
