You must be joking...yaar!

Asian comedians are taking centre stage as part of a month-long festival of comedy.

The "You Must Be Joking" Festival is taking place at King George's Hall, Blackburn throughout November.

The hall regularly holds Lock n Load comedy nights which have proved hugely successful but this is the first time that a festival packed with comic performances has been held.

Thousands are expected from all over the North West to watch the array of stars from the world of comedy.

Made in Englistan', a night of Anglo-Asian comedy will feature Inder Manocha, Haqi Ali and Kevin Sherwani. It will take place on Wednesday 21 November at 7.30pm.

Other acts on show during the month are Grumpy Old Women starring Denise Black, Britt Ekland and Dillie Keane, Frank Sidebottom and Jimmy Carr.

And the public can have a go too. An open mic night with comedian, actor and radio presenter Smug Roberts is also being held for local would-be comedians.

The winner will get the chance to appear at the Lock n Load festival closing party.

Councillor Michael Law-Riding, executive member for leisure and culture, said: "This is sure to be a big hit with people from all over the North West. King George's Hall already hosts monthly comedy nights and they are real crowd pullers."
