Presenter Jasmine Takhar was in the audience at last year’s BBC Asian Network Live and will this year be on stage introducing some of the UK's biggest music acts.

The new presenter of the Weekend Breakfast Show says she is looking forward to co-hosting the 2018 event (March 10) which brings together Asian and urban music talent in Birmingham.

BBC Radio Asian Network Live will include the likes of Jay Sean, Adam Saleh and Faydee, Guru Randhawa, Imran Khan, Jasmine Sandlas, Jaykae, Jenny Johal, JK and Lotto Boyzz on show.

The event is hosted by the Asian Network DJ family.  It sees some of the hottest acts on the British-Asian and global music scenes come together for one night only tomorrow night.

Viewers can watch highlights of BBC Asian Network Live on BBC iPlayer, BBC Asian Network’s YouTube channels (YouTube.com/BBCAsianNetwork) and the BBC Red Button from 8pm.

Panjabi Hit Squad and Kan D Man and Limelight will be on from 11pm hosting an after-show party.

Speaking ahead of the event Jasmine said, “I have been to all the Asian Network Live events and I didn’t think I’m going to be on that stage this year.

“I am really looking forward to it

“I was a member of the audience in 2017 and I am really excited to be presenting on stage this year.”

Jasmine said she wasn’t about to reveal who she would be introducing on stage
“I am going to keep that quiet. I wouldn’t want to ruin the surprise.”

The presenter started life in the media as a host on Nottingham's urban radio station, 975 Kemet FM and 89.6 Westside FM.

Since the age of 19 she has been producing and presenting a number of shows on various forums including live music festivals.

She was also an Outstanding Young Journalist finalist at the 2015 Asian Media Awards.

Her potential was recognised by the BBC who named her as the new host for BBC Asian Network’s Breakfast Show every Saturday (6am-10am).

She added, “It is really different for me.

“It is a nice show. We have a blast every morning and it is so much fun. The audience get to see more of me too.”
