Visiting a theme park at Christmas might not always be something you plan at this time of year. But Drayton Manor have been attracting families from across the UK to their ‘Magical Christmas’ for a decade.

Drayton Manor Theme Park is transformed into winter wonderland complete with snow showers up to three times a day.

The theme park puts on series of live shows looking to get families into the festive spirit. Regardless of celebrating Christmas or not you can't help but get swept away in all things Christmasssy.

For young children Thomas Land is a great attraction in itself with its own distinctive set of rides. There is a warm welcome from an all singing and all dancing group at the entrance to the section.

Your children will be thankful they can go on many rides as they wish as many times as they want throughout the day. Anyone with a young family will know that despite all the gimmicks theme parks throw at us the simple things clearly make parents lives so much easier.

Not all the rides are open though and some of those your older teenagers might find attractive are closed. It does not make much of a difference and the queues do disappear quite quickly even during busy periods.

There is energetic family atmosphere throughout and we found staff very friendly and keen to go out their way to make your stay enjoyable. Probably, the first and only time we have visited a theme park where staff were so helpful!

The enchanted Castle of Dreams has been transformed into a Christmas castle and visiting Father Christmas is a must. Each child receives a gift and a Golden Ticket to return for the new season in 2018.

A big plus point to Drayton Manor was the 15-acre Zoo which houses among others tigers and snakes. The animals can be seen up close and personal and children agreed this was the best zoo they had ever been too. Theme park food is not always the best and there is room for improvement here. More variety would be great help.

Before the day ends there is a Christmas parade and a firework display making this on the whole a great day out for children.  Do wrap up warm though as the night draws in it can get very cold!
