Maher Zain is returning for a full-scale nationwide tour between 20th and 30th October which will see him perform in Manchester and Blackburn.

This 10 city tour with tickets available from £25 each is in aid of our girls in education programme, to help overcome inequality and teach and empower the women of tomorrow.

Speaking to Asian Image he said he was looking forward to coming back to the UK and visiting some new towns and venues. He also told us of how he was keen to change the perceptions of Muslims in the world.

He said, “I’m looking forward to be being back in the UK.  I haven’t been here for a few years and am missing the excitement and buzz that I’ve had here in the past. I’ll be great to be on the road again, touring across 10 cities and meeting my fans and supporters.

“I’ll be performing songs from my latest album One. This will be the first tour in the UK since releasing my third album last year. There are lots of surprises and I hope that everyone who attends will go leave inspired.”

Much of his work ties in charitable campaigns which he said was important to him, “It is very important to me to make sure that my work has a social impact, as well as entertaining audiences.

“I want to play my part in creating a fairer world and I do this through my music and concerts – my upcoming tour is raising money for Penny Appeal’s girls’ education projects.

“I’ve also co-founded a charity with my record label Awakening Records, to serve those who are less fortunate than many of us. I want to use the power of music and fame to make a positive impact”

In the UK Muslims have been vilified in the mainstream press and he said he want to help change people’s views of one another.

“Yes it does concern me, and it should concern all of us – Muslims and non-Muslims. We need to remind ourselves that we are all one human race.

“We need to root out racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia and hatred of the ‘other’ from our communities. We face the same challenges in Sweden and are working together with like-minded people from all backgrounds to challenge this. Ultimately, love will prevail over hatred.”

“I’m actually moved and humbled by the messages of many non-Muslims who come across my music, especially online. They are touched and inspired by my music, even with some of the Islamic lyrics. My song Number One for Me generated significant positive feedback from non-Muslim audiences.

“It goes to show that we don’t need to hide our faith in order to be accepted in society. Be proud and confident of you who you are and what you stand for and people will respect you for that.

As part of his tour he will head to Blackburn on October 26, “I’ve performed in a lot of places, but I don’t think I’ve ever performed in Blackburn, so it will be a first for me! I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of audience I get there.”

And he had this message for fans, “Keep your faith strong come-what-may, and become ambassadors of social change. I hope to see you all at my UK tour!”

The tour is being organised by Penny Appeal and Awakening Records.

Tickets are available now for Blackburn (King George’s Hall) on Tuesday October 26 and Manchester (O2 Apollo) on Sunday 22 October.
