Lancashire Mosques are inviting all communities to see what goes on in a mosque as part of ‘Visit My Mosque Day’.

The Noorul Islam Mosque, based on Audley Range, Blackburn, Masjid-al-Hidayah on Milham Street, and the Masjid Ibrahim in Burnley will be opening their doors to the wider community this weekend.

Visit My Mosque Day will take place on Sunday 5 February with 150 religious institutions across the UK taking part.

Imam Mufti Saleh said, “We are delighted to be taking part in Visit My Mosque Day.

“I would personally like to welcome our neighbours and people of Blackburn from all faiths and backgrounds to join us between 12.30 and 3 pm and I promise you that you will have a fantastic day out.

“You can have a cup of tea and watch prayers as well as speak to members of the communities.

“I am looking forward to seeing you there.”

In 2017 The Muslim Council of Britain say they are putting the spotlight on how British Mosques are helping their Local Communities.

From supporting food banks, to support the economically vulnerable, to providing free meals for the homeless, to volunteers cleaning up local streets or visiting the elderly and sick in their neighbourhood, mosques in the UK are making a direct impact on their local communities.

Harun Khan, Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain said, “Visit My Mosque Day is our chance to welcome fellow Britons to our diverse community.
“In previous years we were moved by how the great British public has taken part in the day, some travelling dozens of miles to find their local mosques, and the level of enthusiasm in the number of mosques who have invited their neighbours to share in the experience has increased each year.

“Now its third year, we hope that Visit My Mosque Day becomes a great British institution for years to come.”

Masjid-al-Hidayah will be opening its doors from 11.30am until 2.30pm.

In Bolton the Zakkariya Mosque and the Makkah Mosque will be taking part.
