Members of the Sikh community are to discuss how the outcome of the EU Referendum could impact Sikhs at an EU hustings event in Birmingham next week.

The event, to be held at Guru Nanak Gurdwara Smethwick on June 16. Attendance is free and open to people of all backgrounds.

You can register online at this link www.eventbrite.co.uk

The event has been organised by the Sikh Press Association, an organisation which works between the minority community and the media.

Jasveer Singh Gill of Sikh PA said of the event, “For Sikhs, there are certain issues that could really affect our way of living in the UK depending on the outcome of the EU Referendum.

“Only last week a senior EU lawyer spoke about having all religious clothing banned in EU countries. Is this something Sikhs need to worry about if Britain choose to remain in the EU? At the same time, if we choose to leave, will this cause an issue for Sikh asylum seekers in Britain if they travel in the EU?

“There is a lot to consider and this is why it is important to hear answers directly from Sikhs. Any Sikhs that are planning to vote really should be looking to attend this event.”

The night of debate will be focused on Sikh related issues that could be effected by the outcome of the EU referendum, taking place on June 23rd.

The evening is to be led by Sikhs arguing for both In and Out, focussing on Sikh specific issues.
