Internationally renowned artist Sami Yusuf will play at Blackburn's King George's Hall later this month.

It is part of a UK 10 venue tour to support Penny Appeal and aid orphans across the world.

The Manchester leg of the tour has already sold out.

He will play in Blackburn on Wednesday 27th April.

Sami will perform songs from his new album, Barakah, along with a selection of his greatest hits.

Barakah has received positive reviews for mixing traditional sounds spanning over 1,000 years from three continents.

Sami is celebrated for being a musician with a message and a tireless humanitarian campaigner.

As the Global Ambassador for the United Nations’ World Food Programme, providing for those in need is something very close to his heart, and is reflected in the decision to work with international humanitarian charity, Penny Appeal, to support orphans worldwide as part of the tour.

Each night, Penny Appeal will showcase their worldwide work in supporting orphans and educating vulnerable children, with funds raised being dedicated to opening new schools and sponsoring orphans.

Aamer Naeem, Penny Appeal CEO, said: “We’re delighted to work with the inspirational and multi-talented Sami Yusuf.

"His messages of ‘doing good’ resonate with our very work and we’re excited that whilst people come and enjoy his performances, they’ll be transforming lives around the world.

“We’ll tour right across the UK, including places like Glasgow, Reading and Coventry, and fans can get their tickets from just £10 and help a vulnerable orphan out of poverty at the same time.”

Speaking about his new album, Sami said, “I felt compelled to revisit the music of those who have gone before us on this 'middle way' to the Centre.

"I believe many of our current global difficulties are deeply related to a kind of cultural amnesia - cut off from our cultural, artistic, and intellectual heritage, many people today feel disconnected, out-of-place, and out-of-balance.

"In response, this album was produced as a celebration of over 1,000 years’ Islamic musical tradition and an invitation to bask in the barakah of this remarkable heritage.

"I hope this album serves as a tadhkira - a reminder - of the great tradition and civilization to which we are all heirs, and I pray that listeners from all backgrounds will find a home, find comfort, and find peace in this blessed music.”
