An independent British comedy drama which explores the matrimonial woes of an Asian woman has launched a crowd-funding campaign.

Written & directed by Sadia Saeed, 'Arifa' was shot in central London and Bexhill-on-Sea and features comedian Shazia Mirza. It is produced by award-winning filmmaker Amin Palangi.

It stars Shermin Hassan as 28 year-old Arifa who reaches a crisis in her life when the escalation of her feelings for 'professional' gamer, Riccardo De Luca, coincides with the sudden reappearance of her estranged father.

Filmmaker Sadia most recent short film produced in London is the 18 minute long ‘Aleeza and Harriet’. Her comedy play 'The Deported' was selected for performance by Kali Theatre Company and was performed at the Tristan Bates Theatre in London in January 2016. 

Shazia Mirza plays the part of Shabana, a psychiatric consultant whilst Arifa's father, Hameed, is played by Jeff Mirza.

Mike Lindup a founder member of the rock band, Level 42, composed the score.

The producers have launched a crowd-funding campaign to finish the movie.
