Tabu says she was excited to be playing the role of a tough Inspector General officer in the forthcoming Drishyam.
The movie will also see Ajay Devgn play the role of a cable operator Vijay Salgaonkar who's family life is turned upside down.
Tabu said "Now that I am playing an IG, the command over the force is much greater, when you see it in the context of the film, it's great such a role was written for a woman. It could have easily been done by a man but a woman is doing it."
Tabu plays the role of a tough inspector IG Meera Deshmukh who son is missing under mysterious circumstances and the prime suspect for this is Salgaonkar and his family.
Drishyam is directed by Nishikant Kamat, produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak, Ajit Andhare and Abhishek Pathak The film is all set to hit the screens on 31 July.
