A change is going to come

After eleven months of being a complete lay-about I am turning over a new leaf.

This month and I am going to try to be a good boy for a change.

I have tried before but I shall not listen to those who tell me I am a hypocrite. There are enough of them about already.

I am pretty sure there are folk who only want to save themselves for this time of year thinking it is some sort of game.

He smokes his weed that one but not during Ramadan. He's with his girl but not during Ramadan. He drinks but not during Ramadan. Lottery anyone? Yes but not during Ramadan.

I got to make some dodgy business deals..but I can't at the moment because it is Ramadan.

It's getting so confusing some don't even know which side of the fence they are sat on.

I see them scutter to the mosques in the evening but where were they before Ramadan?

And if that is not enough one must put up with the cheats. They leave home in the morning with a fast and during the day gorge themselves in secret.

Hide all you can my friends but it watches from afar.

I kind of get embarrassed when I stumble across the secret eaters and fagheads. I don't know what to say or where to look.

Last year I caught a couple in a take-away. I know one place where all the heathens gather to have their food together.

In the park, in a car, out of town where they think no Asians will venture. I wish I was as clever as them but I am not.

Either do it in the open or don't do it at all!

I truly have sinned in my life but even I know that this is not just about one month. This is about more than one month. It is about life.

Hey don't play that music so loud' he says to me. Yes..my brother but just a couple of days ago you were visiting her we do not speak of.' When all is said and done and the sermons have been read...from Pendle Hill I can spot the woman who shouted at her children because she was hungry, the Chaudhry who opened his fast with a cigarette, the man who ate too much and slept on the sofa and the fella who had some weed after Tarawee prayers.
