Atefa appointed non-executive director

Atefa Zaman has been re-appointed as a Non-executive Director to the Board of NHS East Lancashire.

She will serve for a further 4 year term from 1 June 2010.

Mrs Zaman, 33, works for Lancashire County Council as a Self Directed Support Officer.

Her work entails working for Adult and Community Services and works across all client groups supporting staff and citizens through the Self Directed process which comes under the Personalisation Agenda.

Atefa’s career path to date has allowed her to work within the public, private and voluntary sector and has included; Education, Regeneration, Community Development, Youth and Community, Health, and more recently in Adult and Community Services.

Atefa has been a Non-executive Director of the Board of NHS East Lancashire since June 2007. NHS East Lancashire covers the five boroughs of Pendle, Burnley, Hyndburn, Rossendale and the Ribble Valley and is responsible for improving the health and wellbeing of the population. As a commissioning organisation, it is responsible for developing and commissioning local health services including hospital services, GPs, dentists, district nurses, health visitors, and other community health services.

Her successful re-appointment has been made by the Appointments Commission in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments’ Code of Practice All non-executive appointments are made on merit, and political activity plays no part in the selection process.

However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity (if any declared) to be made public.”

Mrs Zaman has declared no political activity in the last five years and holds no other Ministerial appointments.
