Appeal after burglaries at mosques


Police are appealing help from the community following a number of burglaries at mosques across Bristol.

Five religious places of worship in the City have been targeted over the last few weeks with the most recent the Al Baseera Mosque on Wade Street in the City on Thursday January 26.

Money has been stolen on all occasions.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Kelvey said: "These burglaries have caused great distress to those targeted.

"We are thoroughly investigating each incident and are determined to bring those responsible to justice.

"At this moment in time we are working to re-assure members of the community in and around the areas of the mosques affected that we are determined to catch the offender.

"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank members of the Community for their assistance and patience during his investigation, Valuable information for those communities has resulted in a 44 year old man being arrested and bailed.
