Funeral of pregnant stabbing victim held

The funeral of a pregnant Egyptian woman stabbed to death in a German courtroom has been held.

In an incident which has shocked the world, Marwa Sherbini was stabbed 18 times by a German man of Russian descent as she was about to give evidence against him. He was appealing against his conviction for calling her a "terrorist" for her wearing the hijab.

The funeral took place in the northern city of Alexandria.

The knife attack was witnessed by the woman's three-year-old son.

Sherbini's husband, an Egyptian academic, was also injured as he tried to protect his her.
