A 100-strong cast of students from University College London Hindu Society are to take to the stage at Her Majesty’s Theatre in central London with a show featuring Hindu dance, songs and musicians.
The event on 7 February, organised by Meera Sheth and her fellow students at UCL, will raise funds for Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK, the charity which grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses.
Up to 1,000 people will be able to see a display of Bollywood dancing alongside salsa, hip hop, fusion and street.
The show will also feature classical Indian music on instruments like the tabla and sitar, with a fashion show showcasing designs by some of the UK’s leading Indian fashion companies. Meera said: “Make-A-Wish is a great cause to support. Our committee are all familiar with the good work that they do and wanted to support this unique and inspiring charity. We hope that the funds we raise help Make-A-Wish bring joy to many more children in the future.”
There are currently 20,000 children and young people in the UK fighting a life-threatening illness.
In 2010 around 1,000 children will turn to Make-A-Wish to experience the magic of a Make-A-Wish wish. To grant all these Make-A-Wish needs to raise at least £5 million each year.
