A women’s organisation is hosting a special event in Lancashire in the coming weeks.

‘Sister'z In The Hood’ are holding a charity dinner on the 2 January 2010 where chief founder of the Al Qadiria Darul Shifa Institute, Dr H Mahdi will be speaking.

The primary aim of the institute is to support, and empower women of all races and cultural backgrounds Muslim or non–Muslim in their personal and professional life.

The institute provides spiritual treatment, development and Islamic theological studies.

It aims to deal with social issues – women suffering from addiction, drug abuse and alcohol and looks to assist those women facing homelessness, unemployment and financial hardship.

Dr H Mahdi already lectures five times a week across venues in the UK. She was in Blackburn in July 2009 giving a talk on “Hadith Jibrael “ She said, “We cannot turn a blind eye to the above problems because it is happening at a large scale throughout the communities. It is our responsibility to do something to help these women as they are our daughters and sisters.

“So far the institute is within its embryonic stage and is funded through voluntary donations.

“The institute aims to improve individuals quality of life so that they are able to function successfully within a multi-faith society and are able to contribute to the harmony and wellbeing of humanity as whole.”

Among some of the subjects covered in meetings are Islamic Theological social sciences, Arabic calligraphy and Islamic art, Homeopathic medicine, aromatherapy, Confidence building and anger management workshops, children’s Islamic workshops.

Ha dith Qudhsi, Shammail, Tawheed, Tajweed, Sunnah, Quran.

The event takes place at the Shahi Qila, Blackburn between 5-10pm on 2 January 2010.
