Leicester Abbey Pumping Station Museum will be transformed into a celebration of the Hindu festival of light at an event this weekend.
On Saturday, October 3, the venue will host a day filled with activities, crafts and storytelling marking the festival of Diwali.
The museum will be decorated with a Diwali theme, and visitors will get the chance to hear Diwali stories brought to life, as well as taking part in craft workshops and Diwali card making sessions.
All workshop participants will be given a box of traditional sweets from Bobby’s of Melton Road, which is sponsoring the event.
Traditional Diwali snacks will also be served at the museum’s café, and the festive theme will continue outside, with the steam engine Leonard decked out in Diwali costume.
The festivities run from 11am to 4.30pm with activities taking place from 11.30am to 4pm. Details of all Diwali celebrations in the city are available on www.leicester.gov.uk/diwali
