2:20pm Friday 26th August 2011 in Bollywood By Pervaiz Awan
Just going by the titles, the two big Bollywood movies released of late could hardly be more different.
Aarakshan as movie titles go, is oblique and doesn’t give anything away; Bodyguard is in your face and tells you exactly what you’re going to get: a hero dressed in black with matching dark glasses who is tough, resourceful and charming.
He will, without a shadow of doubt, romance and win the heroine and also the love and respect of all and sundry. If we can glean all this from the title, do we really need to see the film?
If you’re still wavering, then let me tell the Bodyguard stars Salman Khan.
Any doubts you still harboured will surely be dispelled by the mere mention of that name. What’s the film about?
Well, imagine every film or TV series you have ever seen about bodyguards, then take all the clichés and all the hackneyed plot-lines and add dollops of smarm with a touch of song and dance razzmatazz then roll them all into one movie and – hey presto - you’ve got Salman Khan’s latest movie!
Out on Eid this one.
