I was commenting on Akshay Kumar’s ubiquity in last month’s column and, true to form, he’s back with another light-hearted, heart-warming comedy - as light and frothy as they make them.
This one is directed by the man with the light-touch, Priyadarshan – another one deserving the ubiquity award.
Akshay Kumar is a struggling road construction contractor, a man doomed to dream big.
There is no chance in hell that his dreams will ever come true, simply because he has no money to bribe!
To make matters worse, the new municipal commissioner turns out to be his ex girl friend (Trisha) who now hates him.
Despite the film’s frothiness, it does make a telling point: as Akshay bumbles his way from one disaster to another, the film reveals the extent of corruption and bribery rampant in the system, and the ingenious means you have to adopt if you want to survive.
Khatta Meetha stars: Starring Akshay Kumar, Trisha Krishnan , Makrand Deshpande, Rajpal Yadav and is Directed by: Priyadarshan.
