The Trustees of the British Muslim Heritage Centre (BMHC) met with David Miliband, the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs.
The Foreign Secretary was shown the BMHCs stunning gothic building site which was once the former GMB National College.
Nasar Mahmood, said, "The BMHC will not only aid in the development and progression of our local British community, but will also assist in advancing efforts to bring about cohesion on an International level too.' In support of the BMHC's vision, the Foreign Secretary expressed his willingness to visit the Centre in the future in order to learn more about what the project has to offer.
The British Muslim Heritage Centre is a national centre that is designed to serve as a focal point for Muslim heritage and identity in Britain.
It is the aim of the BMHC to encourage the Muslim community to play an active role in mainstream British and European institutions and to act has a bridge between the British Government and the Muslim world, with the view of strengthening cultural and economic ties.
