Why won't he come over?

Dear Massi, I have been going out with a Pakistani guy for six years.

He has told his family that he would like to marry me about a year ago. I am not a Pakistani.

Recently we told my boyfriend to come to my house, however my boyfriend and his dad won't come. Only his mum and his brother.

Only me and his brother speak English (his brother does not like me) I am very confused.

Zed Massi says, Situations like these require a little more tact.

If your boyfriend is committed and wants to get married he will make sure his father will come to your house. I'm afraid by not even coming to your house he is simply putting the onus on you. And you have enough problems to deal with.

Just because you are of two different nationalities should not matter in a perfect world but sadly it does.

I think you should talk to your boyfriend and find out if he truly wants to get married. At the moment unless you get a commitment of some sort you will be in limbo.

You have known your boyfriend for six years and even after this time if he is still not willing to put his neck on the line then may be it is not his family that is the problem?

Am I right in thinking your boyfriend does not speak English? Yet you've known him for 6 years! How do you communicate? Language of love, eh?

What I know about Pakistani customs is that when the boy's representatives visit the house of the girl to ask for marriage, the boy does not go the first time around. Basically the boy will visit on another occasion. Arrange another meeting and get a senior Pakistani friend to attend and to act as a mediator/ice breaker. Do not worry. It's all in the formalities!

To Sofia. Oh shut. This is why all my friends that are asian seem to date english girls because most of them are not immature silly little bitchy girls that think they live in bollywood movies and demand eveything at a click of a finger. English girls are not smart outgoing independent women. Your pathetic crys of attention are also amusing to watch walking through town centres.

In response to Shaz. ok so yes Sofia is living in a land of her own, but the way u retaliated, do u really think that makes u any better? dont judge all asian girls on the rantings of a deluded child. (Sofia)
