Dear Massi, I have been married for two years. My wife and I have been trying for a baby since we got married and nothing has happened.
I am worried as I have had a relationship outside of marriage, and wonder if I have caught something.
My wife does not know and I am scared to tell her in case this is the reason she cannot get pregnant.
I think I am ok because I don’t have symptoms, but I didn’t use protection every time.
My family are wondering why we have not got kids yet and I am starting to get tired of making excuses. KL.
Massi Says, If you have been intimate with someone, you could have picked up an STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection).
The most common being Chlamydia, which has no symptoms in 50% of men and around 80% of women.
If left untreated, Chlamydia can stop men and women having children. You can carry it with you for years and not know. If you do not have symptoms, then you can order a Free Chlamydia urine test from b-sure (Under 25’s) from www.b-sure.org.uk or call 0845 6020894 to find out where you can go to take the simple test. If the test was positive, the treatment is simple free antibiotics.
Try to be honest with your wife, or at least do the right thing now and get tested so you can be confident this is not the problem. You are showing responsibility by trying to sort the problem out, if you need advice speak to a b-sure advisor confidentially on the above number.
