I promised I would marry him

Dear Massi I have got myself into a situation which I can’t get out of.

I promised my boyfriend I would marry him but now I have changed my mind. I want him to be happy and I don’t think he will be with me.

I was introduced to someone through my family and I have fallen for him! I have been with my boyfriend for over a year and the plan was to always get married.

But in recent months I started thinking about my future with him and I could not see it being good. I get on better with this man I was introduced too. I am 24 years old.

My boyfriend keeps asking whether he should send his dad to our house and I keep making excuses.

Massi says, This is very simple; you need to be honest with your boyfriend as it will get harder the longer you leave it.

It is unfair to leave him hanging and with false expectations of the relationship particularly in light of your having fallen for this other guy.

Its not fair on him, you or this other guy to continue with this farce.

You need to end things as soon as possible before it gets way more complicated and things start to affect your future relationship with this new guy.

It will be a difficult conversation you have with him but you will feel so much better in the long run for letting him know the truth as things have a nasty way of getting more and more complicated the longer we leave them.
