Dear Massi, I have just been told that I shouldn't be putting my contact lenses in while I'm fasting and that I should put them in just before fajr time.

Do you have any details about the validity of this?

I can't possible put my contact lenses in at 1.30am.

But the sister was making me feel guilty by saying I am purposely putting something into my body which can negate my fast.

I have been using contact lenses for the whole month and now having been told this I am worried that my fasts didn't count.

Massi says, People will have various opinions when it come to religious regulations. It is up to you to reach your own conclusion.

My understanding would be you are not consuming your contact lenses, therefore it does not affect your fast.

Furthermore, opticians recommend that you wear contact lenses for a maximum of 10-12 hours a day.

Wearing them for longer periods of time can cause your eyes discomfort and may make them prone to infection.

I would suggest you take a common sense approach to this.
