Dear Massi, I have going out with this girl for a while. I want to introduce her to my parents as I want to marry her.
The only problem is that she is really dark skinned.
My family are all really light skinned. They look down on dark skin.
They will definitely worry about the colour of our future children.
I do love my girlfriend.
Should I ask her to get her skin lightened? What can I tell her to do?
Fay.
Massi Says: "The only problem is that she is really dark skinned."
The only problem here is your superficial attitude.
If you see your girlfriend's complexion as a flaw, then she is better off without you.
I wonder if you have even articulated to your girlfriend how you and your family feel about skin colour?
Furthermore, you should not be concerned with other people's opinions about your girlfriend's appearance.
You need to ask yourself what matters more to you, your girlfriend's qualities, or whether her skin colour will remain an issue for you.
If it is the latter, then your girlfriend deserves to be with someone far less superficial.
