Dear Massi, My problem is my husband. We have recently got married and I found out although he has passed his driving test he can’t drive He doesn’t even know the basics of what no entry means.
When I do convince him to drive he gets nervous and he makes mistakes.
I get really really angry and argue.
I cant remember a day when we have not argued when he has drove.
I mean when you are driving in a one way street and other cars are horning and calling us names it can get serious!
Massi Says, Not everyone is confident in driving and not every man enjoys driving or has a passion for it. For a lot of people driving is a chore and if every time he drives you argue with him and make him feel bad then this will further affect his confidence.
Instead of arguing with him try to be encouraging and calm.
If he does make mistakes then don’t make a major issue out of it but explain what he has done wrong.
If you continue to make an issue of his driving then this will only make him even more nervous and more liable to make mistakes.
Speak with him and try to find out why he feels so nervous driving; you never know he may have had a bad experience which causes him to be even more nervous.
Encourage him by praising him when he drives well and be constructive when he makes mistakes and talk about what he has done wrong.
If you continue to point out all his mistakes and argue then this will not only affect his confidence driving but will also have a knock on effect on your relationship. Good luck.
