When this place opened I was one of the first through the doors and I must say I did think it would be tough keeping the standards high.

Since then I have eaten at a fair few steak houses but I find the Sizzling Palate still has the edge. The reason for this is simple. They know what they are good at and continue to pull it off time and time again.

I hardly ever hear anyone moaning about this restaurant or if they do they ain’t saying much.

On my latest visit I, like many others, completely ignored the starters and went for the Mixed Grill Sizzler. I could have gone for any one of the sizzlers - each came with noodles or pasta and chips.

To accompany the food I opted for something from their extensive drinks list - In my case the ‘Strawberry Lassi.’ I strongly reccommend you go for one of these drinks rather than the run of the mill - cola. The lassi’s are freshly prepared and taste magnificent.

And here’s another reason people continue to put this place on their list of favourites - we don’t have to wait for our food. The sizzler arrived within 10 minutes and was served piping hot. I tend to eat from a plate (as opposed to some of you who eat from the tray itself!) it allows the food to cool down a tad.

Ask for the accompanying gravy and sauces and the sizzler comes to life!

There are few places I tend to visit which continue to surprise me. I know people who have tried almost everything on the menu here.

But it is the little things that matter to most folk. Like bringing a plate of fries over for the kids as soon as you arrive without you even asking and simply knowing instictively when you are running out of something.

On the downside it is pricey. Even then for a family of four it can set you back close to £40. But I know people who have paid that at some aweful places.

It can also be quite hectic during busy periods when I do feel the service does suffer a bit.

However, as critical as we Asians are I think it really is time we gave hand to a restaurant that has managed to win our hearts by doing the very simple things - simply very good.
