Recently I was in a conversation with someone who said ‘Why is the Asian community known as drug dealers and VAT fraudsters?’ For once I was speechless. Is this how we are perceived by the wider community?
Maybe it was time for us to wake-up and smell the coffee (no pun intended).
Yes, our parents came here and gave a lot back to this society in terms of their hard work and family values.
But, look where we are now. Schools fed up with Asian kids attitudes and behaviour, lads driving expensive cars at speeds that are not seen on the Autobahn.
The language spoken by the younger generation is a kin to animal lingo (and no I’m not getting old). Some would say I am being harsh but the truth always hurts.
I am fed up with people sat around talking about how bad our community has got. Why don’t you get up of your backsides and do something about it.
It all starts at home. You need to question your kids about what they are doing and where they are doing it. Then set an example for them to follow and get your head out of the sand.
The community also needs to stop back stabbing each other and blaming mosques or teachers and society in general and create better role models.
This can be done by letting more able people to come forward and represent us.
It is not all negative, we do have a lot to offer but at the moment it is buried under a plethora of greed and selfishness.
We really are at a crossroads in our time in this country before we fall over the edge and become the under class.
Please, lets start behaving and get back into living our lives adequately and not counting the dollars all day.
The ‘leaders’ need to stand up and tackle issues head on and not brush things under the carpet. Lead by example, start campaigns like cleaning up our streets, have neighbourhood watch schemes rather than relying on insurance companies.
Yes, people will not listen at first but it is everyone’s duty to try and keep trying, shout louder than those dealers on the streets and shout louder than Britain’s Got Talent.
