What I am about to say may or may not offend some people. But I think it has to be said and say it I will.

Sixty years after independence in the Indian sub-continent, we have a community in the North West which still refers to each other by their nationality.

Oh he goes to an Indian mosque or that is a Pakistani mosque. We have prejudices against each other more than the non-Asian people have against us.

We continue to paint each other with the same brush and then say to our non-Asian brothers and sisters we are not all the same.

If we want respect from other communities it is about time we started respecting ourselves.

My biggest gripe has got to be the FACT that you can’t become a bonafide member of a mosque because you are the wrong nationality.

I cannot believe for one moment that there are still places like mosques that only allow one nationality to join and then moan about ‘Islamaphobia’ and ‘racism’ from elsewhere.

I know several high-profile mosques which are run by Indian Muslims who will not in any way allow a Pakistani to sit on their committee.

Before the Daily Mail decides to make an issue out of this let's point out one fact. You CAN pray in any mosque you want anywhere!.

You just can't become a committee member.

If I want to join a mosque committee my nationality or what village I hail from shouldn’t matter one little bit. Did it matter in the Prophets (PBUH) time?

I‘ve also heard of people living in and around one area are of one nationality and they frown upon the fact someone else buys a house in that particular area.

Funny that? I thought apartheid had been defeated; it seems it still exists in some people’s heads. These attitudes must change and they must change now.

The BNP does not care if you are from India or Pakistan and think you are different, because they don't view you any differently.

We talk about cohesion and integration into British society, we as Pakistanis, Indians and Bengali’s need to get on better amongst ourselves, especially with the rapid increase in marriages between all nationalities.

I must admit the only place I see real cohesion between all nationalities is in the playground and in particular on the football pitch.

Just last week I went to see a game in a local league and everyone was happy as pie.

What really irks me is how two communities being so called Muslims and we have these very deep rooted hatred of each other which we still must get rid of The policy of divide and rule is alive and well today.

So let’s respect each other and stop using derogatory terms when describing our
