Receiving unsolicited advice when pregnant is something new-parents-to-be have to endure tolerantly no matter how bizarre or nonsensical the tips appear to be.
We asked readers to share the most peculiar pregnancy tips they heard.
1. Don’t drink coke during pregnancy or you’ll have a dark skinned baby.
2. Don’t eat fried food or you’ll have a hairy baby.
3. To ensure the birth of a fair skinned child, eat green grapes. Not purple grapes.
4. To reduce stretch marks, rub your husband’s soiled underwear on the affected area.
5. For a quick labour and delivery drink a cup of milk every night with a spoon of ghee.
6. Keep a picture of your husband at your bedside so the baby looks like him.
7. Tie a dupatta tightly around your waist after the delivery to get back to your original body shape.
8. Only good daughter-in-laws who look after their in-laws give birth to boys.
9. Don’t go to ante natal classes. It is better to not know what awaits you.
10. Always cover the bump with a scarf, or people will get jealous and you won’t have a boy.
