A growing number of teens and young adults are snapping self-portraits while driving and posting them online. But this is one of the most stupid things you can do.
The photos may have hashtags like #drivingselfie or #drivinghomeones. Distracted driving causes more than 3,300 deaths a year.
Drivers are endlessly creative when it comes to finding dumb things to do while behind the wheel: eating, texting, reading a map, applying makeup.
But the trend of taking selfies with a smartphone cameras while in motion has to be one of the most dangerous.
Idiotic? Maybe so, but these selfie artists aren’t shy about sharing their photos. Instagram shows more than 3,727 posts under the #drivingselfie hashtag, More than 1,869 for the plural #drivingselfies, and more than 9,700 for #drivingtowork. Some users add the optimistic tag, #Ihopeidontcrash!!!
It only takes a second to cause a lifetime of regret. Don’t do it!
