Imran Khan, former cricketer slash playboy turned politician has angered conservative Pakistani's by confirming his engagement to former weather girl and TV host Reham Khan.

The scandal here is that he wants to marry a divorced mother of three. A heinous crime indeed!

It doesn't help that the attractive presenter prolifically displays bare legs when on screen. The archetype maulvis must be having a field day with that level of blasphemy.

Even Imran Khan’s family have reportedly been angered by suggestions of the upcoming nuptials.

Social media hard-liners have even branded Reham a lesbian for being pictured touching another’s woman’s back.

Imran has been titled 'cradle snatcher.' He is 62 and she is 41.

A Facebook page and Twitter page have been set up for the sole purpose of vilifying the woman who dared to embark on an alliance with the Pakistani icon.

And naturally, the biggest critique is Reham’s sartorial choice. Wearing dresses that reveal her knees has become a bigger crime than election rigging or bribery.

Pakistan has a history of its religious seniors being unable to accept 'love' marriages, where, in many parts of the country feudal law remains prevalent.

Only recently 25-year-old Farzana Parveen was stoned to death by her family in front of a Pakistani High Court for marrying the man she loved. The attack took place in daylight in front of a crowd of onlookers.

This was not an isolated case.

According to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, an estimated 869 women were murdered in "honour killings" in 2013.

Imran Khan announced, "I am going to Pakistan to share the good news of my marriage with the nation. I have nothing to hide. Getting married isn't a crime."

If only the rest of the nation could be so forthright.
