Looking after long hair can be hard to manage.  Longer hair is prone to all sort of damage like breakage and split ends. Here a few tips how to look after your long locks.

Know your hair type
Different hair types might require different type of care and there are plenty of products designed for specific purposes. Choosing the right products for your hair type will keep it looking its best.


USE A GOOD QUALITY HAIRBRUSH
Natural bristle brushes or brushes with round bristles are great options. You want a brush that is firm but gentle enough and that won’t pull or tug at your hair. A wide tooth comb will also come in handy for detangling. Perfect for long hair is a tangle teazer.


LET YOUR HAIR DOWN
Tight severe hairstyles can cause damage. Avoid constantly putting your hair into tight ponytails or braids. try it up loose instead of tight. Also never put your hair up into a ponytail while its still wet.


DRY IT NATURALLY
Avoid rubbing or twisting your hair in a towel as this can damage it. Gently pat and squeeze out moisture with a soft towel . If you use a hair dryer select medium heat setting.


TRIM IT REGULARLY 
This is another tip to help keep your long locks looking their best. Aim to get hair trimmed every six to eight weeks to remove split ends. 


CONDITION AND DETANGLE 
Keep your hair silky and smooth by using leave in conditioner or detangling treatment every time. Detangle before shampooing , to minimise the risk of knots forming when you shampoo it. Also when your hair is wet detangle it by gentle running a wide tooth comb through it.


HAIR OIL 
A great treatment for long hair is styling oil. Apply a few drop when your hair is wet on ends, before blow drying your hair. Once you have dried your hair apply a few drop to mid length and ends. This will gave your hair the locking shiny as well as working wonders on your ends.
