It’s amazing what a bit of sunshine can do to people’s moods and mindsets!

Myself and a lot of my readers, can’t deny that a bit of sunshine does you the world of good.

Nonetheless, although the sunshine brings out a lot of good in people, there can be a flip side to the good weather.

Recently, whilst travelling on the M65, a brand spanking, 6 series black BMW with blacked out windows and a group of young lads occupying it, pulled up beside me.

I kindly observed them on the inside lane and I had a gut feeling they were going to cut me off when the lights turned to green.

As as sure as eggs are eggs, low and behold, that’s exactly what they did, breaking the speed limit down the dual carriageway.

By the time I made it to the next set of lights they were sat at the lights like everybody else like a bunch of chumps.

Now let’s be honest, most of us are guilty of speeding at one time or another, but this got me thinking how just a little sunshine can affect people and how they think it’s okay to drive dangerously.

Later that day I parked up my car and found myself in a local taxi cab. The driver recognised me.

I told him what had happened with the young lads speeding earlier on. I was horrified by what he shared with me next. He told me that a good friend of his son was playing in the road and was knocked over by a speeding car. He was only 6 years old.

He went on to explain that the boy had been in hospital for quite some time due to problems with his bladder and other complications because of the accident.

This is just an example of the negative consequences of speeding.

With Eid upon us and other celebrations, let’s be mindful that when driving we have to take responsibility for our speed. Why? Because we need to kill our speed NOT a child.

Remember every action has a consequence. MC=?
