A primary school has become first in the UK to close for the whole of Ramadan.
Ulster Church of England Primary School in Lancashire, which is 99.9% Muslim is closing throughout the month of Ramadan this July.


The Head teacher Andrew Hussain Williams said, “Parents have told us the long summer fasting hours take their toll.


“They said it was difficult for them to drop their children off in the morning and they would rather have a lie-in.


“We are simply catering for our community’s needs.”


Pupils won’t miss any school days because the school will be open though out Easter and the Christmas holidays.
