A new service providing employers with easy access to free advice and support has been launched by Pendle Council.
It’s urging any local businesses which want help to beat the recession to come and get it!
The new service was developed by Pendle’s Economic Taskforce which is led by Councillor Allan Buck who has responsibility for Economic Development.
It aims to simplify access to information for employers and offers free, impartial advice to help them improve and grow their businesses.
A dedicated Employer Engagement Officer has been appointed to help local businesses take on local unemployed people by sourcing financial support and jobs" target="_blank">training.
And useful business support and contacts have been included on the Council’s improved website.
Councillor Buck stressed that the recession is having an impact on local businesses and some are worried about money and jobs. He said: "The current economic situation is proving very challenging for most employers. We’re determined to offer whatever support we can during these difficult times to help safeguard jobs.
“There’s information on our recently improved Council website which gives advice on what financial help and grants are available, together with links to other useful business support.
“Also, Imtiaz Shah, a dedicated Employer Engagement Officer, has been appointed to help local businesses take on local unemployed people by sourcing financial support and training.”
Imtiaz will be working with all local employers to support them in any way he can.
In particular, he’ll be looking at how the Council can help with their recruitment needs – promoting local jobs for local people.
He said: “If employers take on local unemployed people there is a wide range of financial support and training packages available.
“There’s so much support out there and I’m going to make sure employers take advantage of it. Often I’m asked what the catch is and there really isn’t one!
“This is a really exciting and challenging opportunity to generate more jobs in Pendle. I’m really looking forward to getting out there and meeting as many people as I can.”
Any employers who would like help with training or recruitment should contact Imtiaz on (01282) 661688 or 07855 033 291.
For business support you can also ring (01282) 661688 and there’s advice on the Council’s website www.pendle.gov.uk/recessionhelp
