DEREK HARRIS ASHBURNER Peacefully on Monday 12th March 2018, at Pendle Community Hospital, formerly of Blackburn, Derek aged 81 years. The dearly loved husband of the late Margaret, a much loved father of Jane and Louise, a dear father-in-law of Mark, a devoted and loving grandad of Matthew, Amy, Ben and Ella and respected by Steven. Derek will be sadly missed by his loving family and many friends. A Service will be held at St. Leonards Church, Langho on Wednesday 21st March 2018 at 1.30pm prior to a cremation at Pleasington. Reposing in the Chapel of Rest, Broomfield Place, Witton. Family flowers only, or if so desired donations may be made in memory of Derek to Dementia UK, c/o The Alty Funeral Service. Enq. Many thanks for your kind words Harry and for getting in touch this way. It was very sad about dad he’d been ill with vascular dementia but we’d managed to care for him at home but unfortunately he was in hospital for 8 weeks with a gallstones infection and he didn’t come home as his dementia deteriorated so rapidly- we hope we do him proud at his funeral to give him the send off he deserves- he was truly a very special dad xx Jane (Dereks daughter)

Just got the sad news from a member of the old gang Derek was part of a group of guys that grew up together from early age untill leaving home Great memories from bonfire nights to cruising thru Sunnyhurst wood dressed in our best on Sunday rest in peace lollipop man
